What Head Coach Patrick Kisnorbo had to say following Victory’s 2-1 win against Macarthur on Sunday afternoon.
On the match…
“We showed great character, resilience.”
“During the game we dominated (but) couldn’t capitalise.”
“Overall, the players did really well. Especially coming from a goal behind, we know it’s very hard to break down a low block.”
“Full credit to the players. They worked really hard today to get the performance and the result.”
On Piscopo’s goal…
“The most pleasing thing is that we won the ball high and were able to break in that position.”
“Reno’s goal was great, but the pressure on the ball to regain that ball to pass to Reno, I was exceptionally pleased.”
On Piscopo’s performance…
“When he first came in, we knew where we needed to work with him.”
“Over the pre-season and now the season he’s really fought to keep himself in the team, through hard work.”
“He needs to continue that, regardless of the goal.”
“I thought his work on and off the ball was great.”
On Bruno Fornaroli’s absence…
“Only one player to miss out, do you go with an extra striker or an extra defender?”
“I made the decision late yesterday and we went with another defender. I thought (Josh) Rawlins [did] really well last week.”
“It was a bit harsh for him to miss out, but that’s the game.”
“I thought Nikos and Jing were outstanding, regardless of who was out of the squad.”
On Daniel Arzani…
“He was good, at times.”
“With the block as it was, we needed to get some players that can dribble at pace and break [it] down. That’s what he did.”
“He took the penalty, which was a great penalty.”
“He needs to continue that and build on this.”
On fitting Piscopo and Arzani into the team…
“I think they’re both versatile.”
“We have the options, which is great to have.”
“There is competition.”
“We know both of them can play in several roles for us.”
On holding on at the end of the game…
“When we went up, they obviously started pressuring and putting players forward.”
“Last season we conceded too many late goals and we didn’t today, or over the last three games.”
“It’s pleasing, but also we need to work more to continue to do this.”
