Following a pre-match pitch inspection of Lakeside Stadium this evening by match officials and clubs, the quality of the playing surface was deemed not up to W-League standard.
This has resulted in tomorrow’s fixture between Melbourne Victory and Western Sydney Wanderers being relocated to AAMI Park. Kick-off will remain at 7:05pm.
Due to the short lead-time, a COVID-safe plan allowing patrons to attend could not be approved by the Government. As such the match will be played behind closed doors.
The club is extremely disappointed the match couldn’t proceed at Lakeside Stadium and our W-League members and fans have been denied the opportunity to watch their team play live.
