Geria on Adelaide draw, returning to fitness

Geria on Adelaide draw, returning to fitness

Following Sunday afternoon’s draw against Adelaide United, Jason Geria spoke about the team’s recent improvement in results as well as his own journey towards full fitness after a disrupted preseason.

On the result against Adelaide…

“Draw I think is probably a fair result on the balance of things.”

“We had good patches and they did as well. They’re a good team, organised very well.”

“I think either side could’ve been able to take it.”

“They drew level with a wonder-strike – you can’t really stop that.”

On the team’s recent improvement in results…

“We’re getting that cohesion.”

“I think this is the second week in a row we’ve fielded the same starting XI. That really helps things when you’re getting to build those relationships with players.”

“It was unfortunate today with Jakey (Jake Brimmer’s injury), I hope it’s not too serious and we can see him back out soon.”

“But the boys that came on really made an impact too.”

“Some good signs.”

On his own form and fitness…

“Probably still not where I want to be yet.”

“It’s week-to-week for me, I missed out on the whole preseason so I’m basically getting my fitness during the season.”

“Just trying to get that rhythm back, getting used to running out games strong.”

“It’s coming, but I’ve still got a little bit to go.”

On his shot which hit the crossbar…

“All my goals have been headers!”

“I thought it was dipping, then it hit the underside of the crossbar.”

“You can’t really ask for getting too much closer without scoring, but hopefully next week.”

On the focus ahead of next week’s game in Sydney…

“Three points.”

“Building on the performances that we’ve been able to put together, building on that cohesion, creating chances again and putting them away.”

“Sydney is a good side, but we really need to pick up more points.”

“So we have to go there with a mindset to win.”
