Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce the signing of attacker Eli Adams and goalkeeper Ahmad Taleb to Scholarship contracts for the 2022/23 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
20-year-old Adams joins the Club from Brisbane Roar where he spent the 2021/22 season. A graduate of the Roar Academy, the left-footed attacker made his A-League debut in 2021 before making seven appearances for Brisbane last season.
19-year-old Taleb has signed on until the end of the 23/24 season and joins the Club from Melbourne City where the goalkeeper was part of their senior set up.
Melbourne Victory Head Coach Tony Popovic said the duo are exciting young players who have the potential to grow at Melbourne Victory.
“We’re pleased to welcome Eli and Ahmad to Melbourne Victory for the upcoming season,” Popovic said.
“Eli is a talented prospect who we tracked closely last season and we were impressed with his progress. He has the ability to play across the final third and will add another element to our attacking make up heading into next season.
“Ahmad is one of Victoria’s best young goalkeepers who has now had a number of seasons in the system and is ready to take another step in his game. We look forward to working hard with him and taking his game to the next level.”
Adams was thrilled to be joining Melbourne Victory.
“I’m excited to be joining Melbourne Victory and working with the coaches and staff in Melbourne,” Adams said.
“The Club has built a great environment for young players to develop as footballers and I’m looking forward to pushing myself every day and competing for a spot in the team.”
Taleb echoed his delight in signing for the Club.
“I’m looking forward to continuing my goalkeeping development at Melbourne Victory,” Taleb said.
“There’s a strong goalkeeping group at the Club and I am excited to learn and contribute to the team for the upcoming season.”
Adams’ contract will be effective as of July 1, 2022. The duo are the Club’s fourth and fifth new signings of the 2022/23 pre-season, joining George Timotheou, Noah Smith and Tomi Juric alongside the re-signings of Rai Marchan, Will Wilson, Leigh Broxham, Matt Spiranovic and Jason Geria.
