Melbourne Victory Football Club is proud to announce its support of the Geelong Region Skilled Migration Project, by offering Australia-s newest families complimentary tickets to last Friday’s game against Wellington Phoenix at AAMI Park.

The Geelong Region Skilled Migration Project assists employers across the Geelong Region in identifying skilled vacancies that cannot be filled locally, by attracting overseas professionals to these roles.

Whilst newcomers to Geelong quickly learn they are in AFL “Cat” territory, the term “football” for many of the overseas arrivals is usually associated with a round ball.

Melbourne Victory came to the party to show that new arrivals don-t need to miss out on football in Victoria, offering new families to the Geelong region tickets the club-s home game against Wellington Pheonix at AAMI Park last Friday night. The guests weren-t disappointed either with three magical goals and Victory running out 3-0 winners.

The project places great emphasis on welcoming and assisting new arrivals to settle into the Geelong region, hosting regular social events at a variety of venues.

It is important to the local economy that the skilled professionals that come to Geelong remain in the region for the long term. The likelihood of skilled professionals remaining is often dependent on how these families integrate into their communities, and inviting them to experience the hype and atmosphere of a Victory home game will help with this process.

Cr Rod Macdonald, who holds the portfolio for Economic Development and Planning in the City of Greater Geelong, expressed his gratitude towards Victory, “We appreciate the support of the Victorian Football Federation and Melbourne Victory in showing new members of our community, especially young people, that they have a range of sporting opportunities at their fingertips.

“This is a great way to showcase Melbourne Victory and encourage a few long term supporters.”

Melbourne Victory is proud of their continued work alongside the community in making Victoria a better place.
