The independent Disciplinary Committee convened in Sydney on Wednesday night to consider the red card offence against Melbourne Victory player Ney Fabiano.
The committee, comprising John Marshall SC (Chairman), Danny Moulis and Milan Blagojevic, found that the offence of spitting at a player was established and has imposed a sanction of eight matches over and above the mandatory one match suspension, giving a total sanction of nine matches.
