Liz Di Fazio is the Team Operations Manager and Football Analyst for Melbourne Victory’s A-League Women’s team.
We sat down with Liz to get a better understanding of her role at the Club.
What does the Team Operations Manager side of your role involve…
I’m in charge of the day-to-day running of the team. I work with registrations, player contracts and that side of things. I also organise travel, training sessions, equipment, uniforms, and work alongside the coaches to communicate scheduling to the team.
And what about the Football Analyst side…
We look at reviewing opposition teams going into matches and working alongside the coaches to review our own matches to give us the best tactical ability to win when game day rolls around.
How long have you been at the Club…
I started through the Victoria University internship program with the Under-15’s in a sport science role. I was involved in the academy for three years before getting involved in the Women’s senior team in the 2019/20 season.
What’s your background in football…
I grew up as a Victory fan from the very early days and always played football growing up. It’s something I love and something I enjoy.
I did my Masters in Sport Science and Football Performance which gave me my pathway to the Club.
What do you love about your role at the Club…
It’s great to be a part of the club I followed growing up. I get to work alongside really good coaches, staff and players.
It’s really exciting to work with young, up-and-coming players and follow them on their journey as footballers.
How far has the Women’s program come in your time…
The support of the Club has been getting better and better every year. We now have access to the facilities at ‘Elite Football’ in Maribyrnong which means we can provide the players with more than previous seasons.
Winning the Final last season was really exciting and a good way to put ourselves forward at the Club and across the league.
How have you enjoyed working with the current team…
We have a really good group of players. It’s been really good seeing some girls develop and grow as players with more experience in the league.
The players and staff are awesome. They’re a really good group to be around – we’re always having a laugh and having fun which makes the club a great place to work.
