Countdown to Kick-Off | Derby Week

Countdown to Kick-Off | Derby Week

It’s a big week ahead for our A-League Men’s and Women’s sides.

Redemption at Home

Our girls in blue return to the Home of the Matildas this weekend for Friday Night Lights against Western Sydney.

It’s the second time Jeff Hopkins’ side will face the Wanderers this season, but this time on home soil.

It was a forgettable day last time out against the Wanderers after Victory fell to a 2-0 defeat.

Our girls in blue will be looking to continue their five-game unbeaten run on Friday night and star Matilda Emily Gielnik is starting to find her form once again.

A stunning goal from outside the box last weekend against the Mariners saw Victory leave Gosford with a hard-fought point.

Melbourne Derby Week

It’s that time of the year again, IT’S MELBOURNE DERBY WEEK!

Tony Popovic’s side is coming off their first loss of the 2023/24 season, and will no doubt be looking to get back on the winner’s list against City on Saturday night.

City will head into the Derby after a massive 5-1 loss against Brisbane Roar and sit in seventh place on the Isuzu UTE A-League table.

This will be the 43rd edition of the Melbourne Derby, with the head-to-head stuck on 15 wins each.

Our boys in blue will also get the chance to cross the 800 A-League Men’s goal mark on Saturday night if they can score at least two goals.
