Melbourne Victory goalkeeper Ante Covic claimed his first Victory Medal in front of almost 600 guests at the club’s annual awards night at Crown Casino’s Palladium Ballroom tonight.

Melbourne Victory goalkeeper Ante Covic claimed his first Victory Medal in front of almost 600 guests at the club’s annual awards night at Crown Casino-s Palladium Ballroom tonight.

Covic, who has just completed his first Hyundai A-League season with the club, finished with 20 votes, two votes clear of Harry Kewell (18), with Archie Thompson and Fabio third (14).

The 36 year-old was further recognized for his outstanding season by taking out another gong, this time the ‘Players’ Player of the Year- award, while Carlos Hernandez won the ‘Golden Boot-, with Rodrigo Vargas being recognised as ‘Clubman of the Year-.

It was also a night to remember for young midfielder Jimmy Jeggo who, after a breakthrough season, was presented with the ‘TAC Young Player of the Year- award, as well as the ‘Victory Youth Medal- for the most outstanding player in the National Youth League team.

Kendall Fletcher won the Victory Women Medal, with Danielle Johnson the Melbourne Victory Women ‘Players’ Player of the Year- and Brianna Davey the ‘Young Player of the Year-.
