Melbourne Victory is delighted to announce Santi Escudero as the Club’s inaugural NPLW Head Coach.
Most recently serving as the Head Coach of Football Victoria’s NPLW side, Escudero also previously oversaw the Emerging Matildas program, making history by winning the 2025 U16s Emerging Matildas Championship.
Escudero is currently working as an Assistant Coach to Jeff Hopkins within Victory’s A-League Women’s program, ensuring the pathway to professionalism for players is firmly connected.
Born in Valencia, Escudero has previously held positions in his native Spain, operating in the Academy networks of European giants Real Madrid and La Liga side Villarreal.
Director of Football, John Didulica, commented on the appointment, highlighting Escudero’s track record working with young players.
“I am very pleased to welcome Santi to this new position at Melbourne Victory.
“The development of young people and players is essential to our program’s success, and I firmly believe in Santi’s ability to achieve this.
“Santi’s global experience, coupled with his understanding of the Victorian context, will ensure that our players have the best possible program to succeed.”
Escudero also reacted to his appointment, expressing his pride at taking on the role.
“It is an incredible honour to take on this new opportunity as Victory prepares for entry into the NPLW in 2026.
“The Club’s commitment to the Women’s game, continuing to be pioneers in this arena, places me and the other staff in the strongest possible position to make a mark in the competition.
