Preview

Melbourne Victory is out to continue building momentum when it faces Perth Glory in the Isuzu UTE A-League on Wednesday.

Victory’s trip to HBF Park marks its second of eight games during a busy April.

It heads to Perth on the back of an important 1-0 win over Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium.

Marco Rojas’ seventh-minute goal – his third of the league campaign – proved to be enough for Victory to extend its unbeaten run in the Isuzu UTE A-League to seven games.

The impressive Jason Geria set up the goal after a fine pass from Francesco Margiotta, who also produced a good display up front.

Importantly, Victory kept its first clean sheet since beating the Central Coast Mariners on February 19, largely untroubled by Adelaide’s attack despite the Reds’ push for an equaliser.

Goalkeeper Ivan Kelava, who returned to the starting line-up following Matt Acton’s foot injury, kept the clean sheet.

In good news for Victory, Socceroos pair Nick D’Agostino and Ben Folami made their returns from international duty off the bench.

Victory is fourth on the table, but has games in hand on the teams around it.

Player in focus

Margiotta may not have been on the scoresheet in Adelaide, but the forward had several good moments. He was involved in the lead up to the goal and also set up a disallowed strike for Rojas.
