ISUZU UTE A-LEAGUE PREVIEW: VICTORY v NEWCASTLE

Match Details

Melbourne Victory v Newcastle Jets
Date: Sunday 29 October
Kick-off Time: 5pm
Venue: AAMI Park

PREVIEW

Last week’s resounding win over Sydney FC has set the stage for what can only be described as a belter of a home opener this Sunday.

We walked away from last Saturday night’s season opener as 0-2 victors to kick off the new campaign in style.

Our attention now turns to Sunday afternoon’s home opener against the Newcastle Jets as we look to begin an A-League Men season with consecutive wins for only the third time in the Club’s history.

A stoppage-time header from striker Apostolos Stamatelopoulos snatched a 2-2 draw for the Jets in their round one clash with Perth Glory.

The Jets are still searching for their first win of the season.

FROM BRUNO

KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH

  1. Ryan Teague: Making his Victory debut last week, Teague was sensational in midfield as a box-to-box runner and will look to continue to build on his form.
  2. Nishan Velupillay: Getting the start in round one, Nish created the equal most chances across the entire league and provided an assist to Bruno to top it all off.
  3. Paul Izzo: Having kept a clean sheet in our season opener, Izzo also leads the competition for saves made.
