Melbourne Victory winger Kosta Barbarouses has been named in New Zealand’s squad for this month’s OFC Nations Cup in Papua New Guinea.

Barbarouses will remain with Victory for its AFC Champions League Round of 16 tie against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors before linking up with the All Whites.

The 26-year-old, who will leave Victory at the end of the season to join Wellington Phoenix, has made 29 appearances and scored two goals for New Zealand.

The All Whites are aiming to win the OFC Nations Cup and qualify for next year’s FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.

The tournament will be staged in Port Moresby from May 28 until June 11, with New Zealand to face Solomon Islands, Fiji and Vanuatu in Group G.

“We feel like we are on the cusp of something special,” New Zealand coach Anthony Hudson said.

“The goal of this team is to put New Zealand Football back on the world stage and that begins at the Nations Cup.”
