Melbourne Victory were unfortunately overpowered by reigning Champions, Box Hill United, in Round 6 of the NPLW.
At Wembley Park, the hosts assumed a commanding half-time lead on Friday night to take all three points, as the Girls in Blue fell to defeat for a third week in a row.
Japanese midfielder Maho Murakami opened the scoring inside five minutes before Kiara Bercelli and Grace Norbury added further goals by the midway point of the first half.
Murakami’s compatriot, Juri Kawano, got in on the act to make it 4-0 going into the break.
Victory would show some greater resolve during the second 45 and got on the scoresheet 14 minutes from time, with Emily Rutkowski scoring for the visitors.

Speaking to MelbourneVictory.com.au, NPLW Head Coach, Santi Escudero,
“We were well aware of the level that Box Hill would pose, and that meant we needed to be alert throughout, but we were punished early on, and by half-time, the scoreline was a difficult one.
“Nevertheless, the players refused to accept this. We were structurally more sound and created chances of our own, deservedly scoring, and were rewarded for greater intent.
“Next up is Melbourne City, a game we are particuarly looking forward to, and one where we hope to see further development as a collective.”
