Patrick Kisnorbo | Post-Match Comments v CCM

What Head Coach Patrick Kisnorbo had to say following Victory’s 0-0 draw with Central Coast Mariners to begin the campaign.

On the match…

“Before the send-off, I think we dominated the game.”

“We created some great chances; sometimes they go in, sometimes they don’t.”

“Then with 10 men, we showed resilience, we were very hard to break down.”

“It was great to see.”

On rebounding from the missed penalty…

“People miss penalties, that’s just part of the game.”

“I was just basically saying to keep going, because regardless of the penalty miss, we had great momentum and we brought that into the second half, up until the send-off.”

On the red card…

“I know the ref probably has to send the player off.”

“The interpretation, by law, is probably that.”

“I look at it [as a] coach, the intent wasn’t there to actually kick [his opponent] in the head.”

“But obviously the ref is probably following the letter of the law.”

On Fornaroli’s inclusion…

“We want a competitive team and competition is very healthy.”

“I chose to go with Bruno for the first game, obviously next week’s a different game.”

“I choose what I think will be the best starting XI.”

On Geria and Velupillay returning from Socceroos duty…

“I’m sure there would probably be fatigue.”

“Especially playing with 10 men, hence why we decided to change Nish towards the end.”

“But they should be on a high with a lot of adrenaline.”

“I think they might be tired tonight and tomorrow, but…to be an international footballer, you have to play games. This is maybe a learning for them that they’re going to have to get used to.”
