Register for the A-League Women’s Pathway Programs

Melbourne Victory will be running two Women’s football pathway programs helping to identify the next generation of A-League Women’s stars.

The A-League Women’s Pathway Program (ALW PP) is for talented female players aged U14-U19. The program operates as a ‘training only environment’ based out of Maribyrnong Sports College on Tuesday evenings, where our qualified coaches focus on technical skill development in line with the Melbourne Victory’s Women’s team playing philosophy and curriculum. These weekly sessions are designed to complement the young players club training and matches, not replace them (where possible).

This program is a vital stage in our pathway through to our ALW squad, where this past ALW season we signed three players onto scholarship contracts and have invited in another ten players to serve as ‘train on’ players. All 13 of these girls were apart of the ALW PP program.

The ALW Girls Accelerator Program (GAP) mirrors the ALW PP on terms of the coaching methodology, curriculum, coaching standards and oversight from the A-League Women’s staff. This is also a training only program designed to supplement the development work that is being provided through your club / school environments.

The ALW GAP age groups will be a centralised program, delivered out of Rowville Secondary College on Wednesday evenings.

Both ALW PP and GAP are overseen by Melbourne Victory A-League Women’s Head Coach, Jeff Hopkins and Assistant Coach, Gareth Turnbull, as well as a range of qualified, independent coaches. We are proud that we can offer a direct link into our A-League Women’s professional environment for those ALW PP players who consistently demonstrate the desired capabilities across the year. Phase 2 runs for 18 weeks, with two terms of 9 weeks. The first session will be held on Tuesday 11 July (ALW PP) and Wednesday 12 July (GAP) with the final session of the phase being early December.
