Melbourne Victory forward, Catherine Zimmerman is set for an extended period on the sidelines after fracturing her fibula during Saturday’s clash with Sydney FC.
Zimmerman sustained the injury in the early moments of the opening half and was taken off the field after 24 minutes, succumbing to the injury.
Scans on Saturday confirmed the fracture and the American went under the knife on Tuesday to begin her recovery.
Melbourne Victory Head Coach, Jeff Hopkins said he is looking forward to Zimmerman making a full recovery.
“Zim is definitely a significant loss for us, and we wish her the best in her recovery,” Hopkins said.
“We’re confident she can bounce back and play a big role in the team a little later in the season.
“We have a squad that has a ‘next player up’ mentality and we’re looking forward to bouncing back this weekend against Wellington.”
