Melbourne Victory will field an under-strength side when it faces Victorian Premier League outfit Green Gully in a closed trial match as part of its 2009/10 season preparations this Wednesday.

Melbourne Victory stars Archie Thompson, Danny Allsopp, Kevin Muscat and Rodrigo Vargas lead a host of first-team regulars who have been rested from the trial match, but are expected to return for the club-s friendly against Adelaide United in Launceston this Sunday.

The Green Gully trial match will be played behind closed doors, giving Melbourne Victory players the opportunity to push for selection and coaching staff the chance to experiment ahead of the club-s season opener against Central Coast Mariners at Etihad Stadium on Thursday, August 6.

Tickets for Melbourne Victory-s friendly against Adelaide at Aurora Stadium this Sunday (kick off 1pm) are available from Max Events by calling (03) 6333 0889, through www.maxevents.com.au or from Launceston City Council Customer Service Centre or Football Federation Tasmania.
