Victory and Shotton part ways

Ryan Shotton

Melbourne Victory confirms that the Club and defender Ryan Shotton have agreed to part ways prior to the end of the season.

Following an extended injury lay-off Shotton and the Club have agreed that Ryan will return to England to continue his playing career.

“Coming to Melbourne and playing for Victory has been a wonderful experience for me and my family,” Shotton said.

“I would like to thank the Club for providing me with the opportunity to come and play for Melbourne Victory. It has obviously been a disappointing season and I wish I was able to contribute more on the pitch this year. That said, I really enjoyed mentoring and working with the boys around the Club and I would like to thank the coaching staff and my teammates for their support over the course of the season.

“I would also like to thank the members and fans of Melbourne Victory and wish the Club all the best for the future.”

The Club would like to thank Ryan for his professionalism during the 2020/21 A-League season and can confirm that he will fly home to England with his family tomorrow.
