Melbourne Victory was proudly represented at Victoria’s State Parliament during Football Victoria’s (FV) Festival of Football Activity.
Last week, FV held a series of events in Queen’s Hall of Parliament House, bringing together Victorian Members of Parliament, Football Australia, A-League Club Officials, including representatives from Melbourne Victory, Community club representatives and special guests.
On Tuesday, Victory collaborated with its cross-town rivals, showcasing the strength of their community programs and the influential role football plays in shaping the youth of Victoria.
The impactful nature of such programs was evidenced by Afghan Women’s Team player, Mursal Sadat, and Melbourne Victory youth programs participant, Tesnim Baker, who spoke about the positive lived experiences they have had the benefit of through their connection to the Club.
This was delivered in the presence of a select group of Members of Parliament, including Treasurer of Victoria, Jaclyn Symes, and Minister for Youth of Victoria, Natalie Suleyman, while further MPs sporting Victory jerseys played football in Queen’s Hall, exhibiting the unbridled joy the world game brings.
The following day, further State MPs, including Parliamentary Friends of Football co-founders, Anthony Cianflone MP and John Pesutto, Member for Hawthorn, gathered to highlight the important investment that is required in facilities to ensure everyone who wants to play football has a place to play.
The facility discussions were addressed as part of FV’s Level the Playing Field strategy, which also includes FV championing the Club’s Northern campus, announced in 2025, that will be delivered by Melbourne Victory in partnership with the Mitchell Shire Council.
Victory legend and Non-Executive Director, Carl Valeri, presented on a Q&A panel, discussing the connection between grassroots and the professional game in Victoria.
Members of the Club’s Executive Team, including Managing Director, Caroline Carnegie, were also in attendance on Wednesday.
