Victory looking to build on W-League momentum

Melbourne Victory’s Westfield W-League team will look to build on a positive result against Western Sydney Wanderers last week, when it faces Canberra United at McKellar Park on Saturday.

After going behind 2-0 to the Wanderers, second-half goals from MelindaJ Barbieri and Natasha Dowie completed a gritty comeback to ensure Victory would take home a share of the spoils.

Round 10 sees Victory face an in-form Canberra United side that sits second on the Westfield W-League ladder.

The reigning Champions made easy work of Adelaide United last time out, putting four goals past the Reds in an impressive performance.

Michelle Heyman scored a brace for Canberra and the striker looms as a threat Victory will need to keep quiet if it is to come back from the nation’s capital with all three points.

Despite suffering a slow start to the season, Victory’s display against the Wanderers showed plenty of promise.

A win against Canberra United could see Victory climb off the bottom of the table, with only five points separating six teams on the ladder.

Based on the latest weather forecasts, FFA has taken the proactive step of rescheduling the kick-off time for the match from 4.00pm AEDT to 5.00pm AEDT.

Under the FFA’s Heat Policy, the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature is currently predicted to be over the threshold of 28 degrees at 4.00pm AEDT and is expected to fall to a safe and acceptable level for the match to kick off at the rescheduled time.
