Victory needing to marry performance and outcome says Diles

Arthur Diles is wanting to turn promising performances into wins and points on the board ahead of Melbourne Victory’s Round 5 clash of the Isuzu UTE A-League in the Big Blue.

Seeking to bounce back after a tough loss in the Melbourne Derby, Arthur Diles gave his take on the game and his team’s performance.

“For us, there was a lot of positives.

“The most disappointing part was the result, but performance-wise, more performances like that are definitely going to bring us three points.

“There were little details and small moments to improve in both boxes, just to have that killer instinct and mentality in the front third and obviously when we’re defending our box.”

Giving Juan Mata his second consecutive start in the Derby, Diles expressed his pleasure with what the veteran Spaniard has brought to the Club.

“It was great to see Juan get through 90 minutes; it’s probably been a while since he’s done that.

“He showed his quality on the ball and on the park. He’ll continue to grow and get better and better with each match.”

Aware of the talent and experience on the Sky Blues’ side, Diles provided a positive update on Victory’s injury list ahead of the Big Blue.

“Louis (D’Arrigo) has trained the full week and is looking really good. Nish (Velupillay) has completed the week as well, he’s probably touch and go.

“Louis is fit to travel, so that’s pleasing for us. We look forward to him joining the squad and hopefully Nish too.”
