Melbourne Victory is delighted to announce the re-signings of Lia Privitelli and Catherine Zimmerman for the 2021/22 W-League season.
Privitelli and Zimmerman will form part of Victory’s attack alongside Melina Ayres, who is in the second year of a three-year deal.
Women’s Head Coach Jeff Hopkins is looking forward to welcoming Privitelli, Zimmerman and Ayres back to training ahead of the Club’s Championship title defence.
“Lia, Catherine and Melina all have important roles to play in our squad and add different elements to the team,” Hopkins said.
“Lia’s pace and work rate is difficult to match. She can play on either wing and provide us with an edge to break teams down, which allows us to play the way we want to play.
“Catherine was a key player for us last season. Her unique ability to play across the attacking line gives us an extra dynamic and she’s a great finisher with her left and right foot.
“Melina has worked very hard on her game and is a natural goal scorer. She played in her preferred position last season and really grasped that opportunity,” said the Head Coach.
“We’re excited for the season ahead and to finalise the full squad.”
American winger, Zimmerman, is excited for the opportunity to continue her journey with the Club.
“I’m really happy and thankful to sign with Victory again,” Zimmerman said.
“It’s such a great Club and with all the success we had together as a team last year, it will be great to get back and train with everyone ahead of the season.
“I’m looking forward to reuniting with the girls. We all get along so well and this gives as such a competitive edge when we train and play.
“This bond, developed last season and the competitiveness of the whole team, will no doubt be on display during the 2021/22 season as we aim to drive success again this year.”
Victory’s W-League side has now confirmed ten players for 2021/22, including the signing of Alana Murphy, who recently became the first player to graduate from the Club’s Elite Girls Program.
