Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce the signing of French-Moroccan attacker Zinédine Machach for the 2023/24 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
The 27-year-old has signed with the Club on a one-year deal, joining from Greek side Ionikos and playing for the likes of Napoli and Toulouse throughout his career.
The Frenchman began his footballing journey in the youth systems of Marseille and Toulouse, graduating to the senior side in 2015, where he made 31 Ligue 1 appearances over two seasons and was coaxed by then Moroccan coach, Herve Renard to represent Morocco at international level.
A move to Napoli followed and saw Machach loaned out for two seasons in the Serie B before a move to the Dutch Eredivisie with VVV-Venlo and later Hungarian side Budapest Honved which saw him become a regular in Holland and Hungary.
Melbourne Victory Head Coach, Tony Popovic said he was thrilled to welcome Machach to the squad for the upcoming season.
“Zinédine is an exciting and dynamic player who has the ability to play a range of positions across the attacking third and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can produce at Melbourne Victory,” Popovic said.
“His versatility in attack will be an asset to our squad this season and his experience in a range of leagues across Europe will allow him to adapt well in the A-League.
“We look forward to working with Zinedine as we continue to prepare for the upcoming season.”
Machach was also looking forward to the challenge ahead in the A-League with Victory.
“I’m excited to be joining Melbourne Victory and can’t wait to put on the shirt and represent the Club,” Machach said.
“When I first heard of the opportunity to come to Melbourne, it was something that was new and exciting for me and a challenge I believe will help me develop as a footballer.
“Victory is the biggest Club with the best fans in Australia and I’m looking forward to giving everything for them to achieve success this season.”
Machach joins Daniel Arzani, Adama Traore as the Club’s latest new signings along with the re-signing of Roderick Miranda and the elevation of Franco Lino, Jordi Valadon and Joshua Inserra to the senior squad to compliment the Club’s 2023/24 Isuzu UTE A-League roster.
