Head Coach Tony Popovic spoke to the media after Victory’s 2-2 against Western United.
On the performance…
“Obviously a tough game. We always have tough games against each other. I mean, it’s proven in our history with them.”
“I thought it showed wonderful character to come back. You know, things weren’t quite falling for us. A few decisions I thought didn’t go our way either. But you know, we came back and took the lead, which shows the character and personality the team has.”
“But unfortunately we really gifted them that goal at the end.”
On conceding late…
“You know, the other side of it is that three weeks ago we played here against Western United and we scored two late goals. It happens. It’s always frustrating when it goes against you, especially when you put yourself in that type of position to win the game. We really need to get better at seeing the game out.”
On the remainder of the season…
“Look, we have to go one game at a time and obviously tonight would have helped. It would have put us three points behind the top two, but you know, now it’s five. We’ve just got to work towards Perth and just control what we can. The top two that are ahead of us at the moment, you know, we can’t control their results.”
