Melbourne Victory could secure guarantee themselves promotion with two games to spare when they take on Bulleen Lions on Monday night.

Following Northcote City’s defeat on Friday night, a win for Victory would be enough to guarantee a top-two finish.

The game against Bulleen will be anything but straightforward though, with the Lions coming into the game off the back of a strong run of form.

Bulleen were 4-0 winners last time out, proving far too strong for Kingston City at The Grange Reserve.

Having lost only one of their last nine games, Bulleen have climbed to fifth position on the VPL1 ladder.

Victory though are in decent form too, having themselves put four past their most recent opposition.

Luciano Trani’s team overran Langwarrin 4-1 last weekend, with goals coming from Tommaso Minutoli, Adem Duratović, Kayne Razmovski and Marc Petheriotis.

Victory benefitted from an early red card, but took full advantage of their numerical superiority to claim the three points.

As a result, Victory extended their lead on top of the VPL1 table to six points with just three games remaining.

However, given the results already this weekend, Monday night’s game presents a golden opportunity to seal back-to-back promotions.

Victory and Bulleen met back in Round 11 at The Home of the Matildas, where the league-leaders ran out 5-2 winners, largely off the back of a Minutoli brace.

Be sure to get down to the Veneto Club to support the boys as they attempt to guarantee what would be a just reward for a spectacular season.
