I dreamt of playing in Melboure Derby says Victory’s Jančevski

Melbourne Victory’s Alana Jančevski will be fired up for the Melbourne Derby.

If selected for this weekend’s crunch Ninja A-League Women’s match at The Home of The Matildas, the lifelong fan will face Melbourne City for the third time in Navy Blue, hunting her first win in the fixture as a Victory player.

This follows her big contribution off the bench against Newcastle Jets a week ago, when her dangerous corner caused an own goal to put Jeff Hopkins’ team ahead in Shepparton.

Speaking during her pre-match press conference, Jančevski discussed the fixture’s meaning, both in the context of the 2025/26 season and as a one-off game.

“From here on out, with not many games to go, we’ve got to be pushing to win every game. And a derby screams that, you always want to be winning those games. They are do-or-die, and they’re the games you want to be playing all season.

“I’ve supported the Club since I was young, so this derby has meant something to me for my whole life. So to be able to play in the derby and have that extra fire to impact the game is something you dream of.”

Further previewing the Round 17 clash, Jančevski looked at what it will take to claim all three points when Victory host City on Sunday, February 15, kick-off 5pm AEDT.

“It’s important to be doing well in all areas of the field, and I think we have such a good side, and if we fix those little one percenters, if we can bring all those things and that little hunger and fight going into the City game, we’re very well prepared.”
