Arthur Diles wants another strong performance from Melbourne Victory against Sydney FC this weekend.
The Boys in Blue travel to New South Wales on Saturday, March 7, kick-off 7:35pm AEDT, for 2025/26’s third instalment of the Big Blue, one of the Isuzu UTE A-League’s most anticipated rivalries.
Victory have won their last two away fixtures, defeating Wellington Phoenix and Melbourne City, and head to Allianz Stadium with the bragging rights, having beaten the Sky Blues 4-0 at AAMI Park toward the end of January.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Diles previewed the Round 20 fixture through the lens of recent meetings and served a verdict on the opposition and their threats.
“This is game three. Game one wasn’t favourable in Sydney. Game two was an excellent performance and result for us, and now it’s one apiece. We’ve got to go there Saturday night to make sure we come back with something on the day, that’s for sure.
“They’ve had a busy January window. They’ve strengthened their side dramatically, and they’ve brought in some really, really high-level players.
“They’re a good side, we know that, but we’re a very good side as well, and we’ve got to make sure that they’re worried about us.”

Victory are expected to be without Denis Genreau due to the issue that forced his early withdrawal against Adelaide United during the Original Rivalry that closed out February.
His absence could present another opportunity for Xavier Stella, with Diles giving an assessment of the 19-year-old midfielder.
“Xavier was excellent when he came on last week. He’s a player that’s had a significant amount of game time so far this season.
“We’re happy with the way he’s progressing, and if he’s called upon and he’s needed, he’s ready for the job.”
