Arthur Diles wants to see his Melbourne Victory team take charge, irrespective of who and where they are playing.
The Boys in Blue, after a trip to Sydney FC for the campaign’s final Big Blue, are gearing up for three straight home matches at AAMI Park.
This sequence begins with the hosting of Macarthur FC on Sunday, March 15, kick-off 7pm AEDT, for what is a special match day as the Club connects with LifeChanger Foundation for the Stand Together Round.
It is then Central Coast Mariners and Wellington Phoenix visiting Melbourne on either side of March’s FIFA Men’s international window.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Diles was adamant that the focus for his team remains locked in regardless of the varying on-field challenges that they may be presented with.
“It doesn’t matter the opponent, it doesn’t matter whether we’re home. We want to dominate games with our style of football. We want to play our way. We know the opponent each week changes, and the obstacles that we’ll face change each week, or we build a game model that we know we can be quite fluid in terms of how we want to get through teams.
“They’re a different team, different headaches for us. Up top with (Mitch) Duke and Harry Sawyer, if they both play together or if one of them plays there, there’s always that aerial threat. We can expect a lot of crosses coming into the box. They’re a good side, a very experienced side.”
Diles was also able to offer a match day minus two update on the fitness of his squad, with the Head Coach advising on those absent versus Sydney, as well as Denis Genreau and Captain, Roderick Miranda.
“(Louis) D’Arrigo’s still out, and Jason Davidson won’t be a part of the squad as well.
“He (Denis Genreau) wasn’t in a position to start last week, but he is now. Roddy’s fine, it was a bad cork, but he’s recovered quite well.”
