Melbourne Victory is delighted to announce the signing of Angela Beard.
The 29-year-old defender, who previously played for the Club on 54 occasions, returns to reunite with A-League Women’s Head Coach, Jeff Hopkins, ahead of the 2026/27 season.
A member of the Philippines’ squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Beard brings a breadth of experience, having played in Scandinavia for Danish club Fortuna Hjørring and Swedish sides Linköping and AIK, displaying versatility and a track record of winning to the ranks.
She first joined Victory from Brisbane Roar in 2017 and would go on to captain the 2021 Championship-winning team at Victory.
Melbourne Victory A-League Women’s Head Coach, Jeff Hopkins, commented:
“Angie has enjoyed tremendous success at Melbourne Victory previously and returns to the Club with added experience but the same hunger and leadership which makes her such a force out on the pitch.”
“I am looking forward to working with her again and seeing her flourish once more here in Melbourne and across the A-League battlegrounds.”
Beard said:
“It feels awesome to be back at Melbourne Victory; the players, staff and training environment here provides the perfect runway for the season ahead and into the Women’s World Cup next year.”
“It is a place that means an awful lot to me and holds so many special memories. I am determined to create more of those this season and make everybody connected to the Club extremely proud.”
Welcome back to Victory, Angie!
Beard’s arrival follows Claudia Bunge, Chelsea Blissett, Nicki Flannery, Courtney Newbon, and Zoe McMeeken re-signing.
