Melbourne Victory A-League Men’s Head Coach, Giovanni Savarese, and goalkeeper Jack Duncan have addressed the media ahead of the Club’s AFC Champions League Two Group Stage fixture versus FC Seoul.
The Match Day 2 clash takes place at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium on Wednesday, October 14, kick-off 6:45pm AEST, with Persib Bandung and Thể Công–Viettel facing off in the other Group E contest.

On his team’s approach:
“We have to step on the field and just perform, think about ourselves, make sure that we are our best in this match, and that’s the only way I think we can get a result.”
On handling the schedule:
“We still have probably one player unavailable [Louis D’Arrigo] that didn’t play last week, and basically a lot of the players are in a good position.
“We just have to see exactly who’s in a better fitness stage after the match that we play this weekend to be able to make sure that we put the right XI to start. But this year, I feel we have a team that can definitely rotate and still be very strong.”
On facing FC Seoul:
“We need to be prepared. We need to be ready. Whoever’s going to play on the field for them is their problem.”
Jack Duncan
On reacting to the Australia Cup Final:
“I think it’s about having that short period of understanding what you’ve just lost, and letting that sink in very briefly. For me, it was that night, and then onto the next thing the next day.
“It’s a process of ‘Okay, how can I put myself in the best position to play this game coming?’ So recovery, and then looking at the opposition, their strengths and weaknesses, and how I’m going to come into this game.”

On the team’s growth with new players:
“We’ve got different players coming in. We’ve signed Guillermo (May) only recently, and for me, you could see in the last game how much quality he has and how much he can help us as a team. Each game we’re looking to grow.”
On juggling competitions:
“We’ve got the league season starting on the weekend as well, so it’s a chance for us to put in another good performance and get back some of the momentum that we’ve built throughout the pre-season.”
