Melbourne Victory kicks off its Foxtel Y-League season with a trip to Brisbane Roar on Sunday.
A relatively settled Victory squad begins its campaign at Lanham Park, having enjoyed a first-round bye.
It has added four fresh faces, with Thierry Iradukunda, Maker Maker and Yazid Said signing from South Melbourne and Matthew Sutton arriving from the Centre of Excellence.
Victory head coach Gareth Naven said he had been pleased his team could prepare in warm conditions in Melbourne.
“What I’m happy about more than anything is getting the hot weather in Melbourne,” he said.
“The boys training in the hot weather is an important thing for them. It’s not only just Brisbane, but I keep saying to them, it’s nice to have the conditions to feel that discomfort when you’re training.
“They’re starting to adapt to that as well and obviously in the same sense it gives them an opportunity when you go and play in the heat of the day.
“Our kick-offs are generally either 10.30am or three or four o’clock so they’re going to experience that sort of discomfort as such.
“We’re seven weeks into the preparation and we haven’t had many changes in personnel.”
Brisbane started its season with a 3-0 loss to City in a Group A clash which was abandoned early in the second half.
