Melbourne Victory Head Coach, Grant Brebner, is plotting the club’s recovery from last weekend’s ‘embarrassing’ Derby defeat, starting with Adelaide United this Saturday.
Brebner, the coaches and playing group have implemented the key learnings from their last outing into practice on the training track.
The Head Coach is now backing his players to be mentally ready to host the Reds, in what will be a fierce encounter at Marvel Stadium.

Adelaide
“We’ve had some fantastic games against Adelaide over the years and I have no doubt that they will be coming here with confidence,” said Brebner.
Victory’s defence will be occupied by Adelaide’s free-flowing attack, which has guided the Reds to three wins in as many games.
The squad has been bolstered by the inclusion of Adama Traore. The experienced defender trained today and will be in the mix to return.
“We need to contain those guys by being on the front foot,” Brebner said.
“We need to make sure that we are hard to beat and if we can keep a clean sheet, I am confident that we will score.”

Recovery
Brebner believes he and the playing group will learn from last weekend and ensure such a result doesn’t occur again.
“As a group we have to take this front-on. We can’t paper over the cracks and we’ve had a tough week in that respect.
“We can now use this week as determination to make sure it never happens again at this football club,” he said.
“It’s easy to stand here and use words, but we need to stop talking and see it on Saturday night.”

de Marigny
Brebner’s coaching team will benefit from the arrival of Jean Paul de Marigny, who re-joins Victory as a First Team Coach having previously won two A-League Championships with the club.
Brebner called de Marigny while he was on the golf course and told him to stick the clubs back in the garage.
“I had a conversation with him about the game last weekend and I felt we could put him to better use,” said the Head Coach.
“He is a winner. He has had success at this football club and we’ve given him roles that we want him to implement.
“There is a clear direction in what he wants and which fits with the philosophy of this football club.”
