Melbourne Victory is pleased to announce the signing of Jason Davidson for the 2021/22 A-League season.

The 22-time Socceroo defender moves to Victory after terminating his contract with K-League club Ulsan Hyundai last month.

The 30-year-old played under Tony Popovic at Perth Glory, where he won the 2018/19 Premiership and was a key figure in the Socceroos’ 2015 Asian Cup winning team.

Victory A-League Head Coach, Tony Popovic, said Davison will add significant quality and leadership to the squad the Club is building.

“Jason’s ambition and desire to succeed fits in perfectly with our plan and vision for the Melbourne Victory team,” Popovic said.

“He is a quality player and I am delighted to work with him once more.”

Davidson is looking forward to working with Tony Popovic and the larger Melbourne Victory team.

“Tony Popovic is one of the best coaches I have worked under,” Davidson said.

“I learnt a lot from him when I played for Perth Glory.

“There was a strong structure and I thrived and enjoyed that kind of atmosphere.  It was a pivotal period in my career so to be part of his team again is a great opportunity.

“The Boss is assembling a strong squad and I am looking forward to being a part of the greater Melbourne Victory team.”

Davidson has previously played at Huddersfield Town and FC Groningen.

The Melbourne player was part of the Socceroos through the 2014 World Cup and played a significant part in Ange Postecoglou’s 2015 Asian Cup squad, as Australia’s starting left-back.
