2023 U-NITE Cup Finals Locked In

Melbourne Victory is proud to continue its partnership with the Melbourne Chinese Soccer Association (MCSA) ahead of Sunday’s U-NITE Cup Finals at Veneto Club in Bulleen.

Following the tournament’s inception in 2014, the U-NITE Cup has developed into a celebration of football and cultural diversity, growing significantly with each edition.

Over 700 registered participants have represented 34 community football clubs in 2023, with upwards of 50 unique cultures from every corner of the globe also represented.

First launched as the Asian Cup, the U-NITE Cup has developed to be encompassing of all nations – something MCSA Secretary Andrew Young is proud of.

“Because it was so successful and so popular (the first edition), in our tournament review, both Victory and us agreed to continue on with the effort every year,” Young explained.

“A few years ago we thought that Asian Cup probably wasn’t all encompassing, being a multicultural society, so we thought it was very appropriate to change its name to the U-NITE Cup.”

Melbourne Victory’s partnership with the tournament, and MCSA, is long-standing.

“The U-Nite Cup is a true celebration of football bringing people together. Melbourne Victory is incredibly proud of our partnership with the Melbourne Chinese Soccer Association in bringing life to this tournament every year,” said Victory’s Manager of Community Partnerships and Engagement, Steve Johnston.

“In addition to the celebration of cultural diversity the U-Nite Cup creates, it has been incredible supporting the dedicated MCSA volunteers and administrators in their tireless pursuit to create greater opportunities for women and girls to play football.

“The U-Nite Cup strengthens the Victory family, positively contributing to a diverse, connected and healthy community that reinforces Melbourne as a city where all people can be proud to call home,” Johnston continued.

The winners from both Finals will take a lap of honour on AAMI Park at the Club’s U-NITE Multicultural Round on January 26, when both Victory A-League Men and Women take on Sydney FC.
