A message from Managing Director Caroline Carnegie

A message from Managing Director Caroline Carnegie

Dear Victory members and fans,

Season 2021/22 is a fresh start for all of us – our members and fans as well as the whole Club. With that in mind, I don’t want to go over the disappointment of the last A-League season, other than to assure you that the Board has given me the mandate to implement substantial change at Melbourne Victory in the off-season, to ensure we are never in the same position again.

This is my first message to you since starting in the role of Managing Director, as my focus, and the focus of the broader team, has been on getting the right staff in place to deliver success both on and off the pitch. This has included a range of appointments, departures and decisions around what is best for the Club in the short, medium and long term.

In every decision the Club has made we have had you, our members and fans at the forefront.  We have taken on-board feedback either in person, from emails, commentary across our social media channels and through the annual membership survey and I assure you, we are listening. It is important to me that the entire Melbourne Victory family (members and fans) are at the heart of every decision we make and my remit is to drive change for the betterment of the Club which means thinking, and acting as a fan first, which I am.

With that said, I have a couple of exciting developments to share with you.

First, we would like to confirm that the PAYG membership model no longer exists. The overwhelming feedback from members was that they wanted to return to their own seat in season 2021/22 – which we are aiming to facilitate. Members will no longer be required to purchase a ticket for entry and member cards will also be permitted subject to requirements of the Health Department around COVID.

Second… ‘football is coming home!’.  For some time, we have heard you say that AAMI Park should be our only home.  I am pleased to announce that from season 21/22, every Melbourne Victory A-League home match will be hosted at AAMI Park.

This is a watershed moment for the Club.  We have played home games at AAMI Park since day one of its inception. We have our offices, training and other facilities all located out of this purpose-built football stadium and now we are truly excited to be bringing ALL our matches home!

We have worked hard with both Marvel Stadium, who we thank for their years of support, and AAMI Park for helping us deliver this outcome, and to secure the best result for our members and fans as well as the best match day experience for you.

So together let’s get this Club back to where it should be, supporting our boys and girls in blue as one, in large numbers and in a way that is intimidating to anyone who enters our fortress.

Our membership for 2021/22 launches next week. I am looking forward to hearing the terraces, and our loyal supporters in full force at every game.

Finally, I want to thank you for your passion, support and commitment. Know that we will continue to listen to you, our members and fans, and constantly look to drive change to be at the forefront of football in Australia.

This is where the next Melbourne Victory chapter begins.

Be a part of the journey.
