Academy Preview: NPL3 host Caroline Springs, Juniors away to Western

NPL3

Melbourne Victory will face its biggest test of the NPL3 season on Sunday as it faces second place Caroline Springs George Cross in a top of the table clash that could go a long way in deciding the NPL3 Championship.

Caroline Springs sit seven points from Victory with a game in hand with Joe Palatsides’ side looking to extend their gap to ten points with five matches remaining.

Victory were made to sit through a nervy ten minutes last week as they defeated Box Hill United 2-1 at Epping Stadium. A Noah Spaseski brace secured the result where Victory were comfortable in the majority of the contest.

This week’s opponents come into the contest off the back of eight consecutive wins that has seen them rocket up the table to second position.

Last week’s win over Geelong saw their top scorer, Josh Whiteley separate the sides in the 1-0 win at City Vista and he will be the player to watch heading into this week’s contest.

The Under 20’s will be looking to maintain their nine-point buffer at the top of the table in the curtain raiser.

Victory face Caroline Springs on Sunday at Epping Stadium, kick-off 3.00pm Under 20’s 12.15pm.
