Academy Preview | Victory return to Epping for Warriors clash

Melbourne Victory will be aiming to maintain their position on top of the VPL1 ladder when they take on North Geelong Warriors on Sunday afternoon.

The game will be Victory’s first at Epping Stadium for the season as they look to continue their strong start to the campaign.

Joe Palatsides’ side’s most recent outing saw them claim a hard-fought 2-0 win over Eastern Lions at JL Murphy Reserve.

The game was tense throughout, with both teams struggling to control the general play for an extended period.

Victory would eventually find the breakthrough in the final 15 minutes of regulation when a Matt Bozinovski header broke the deadlock.

Adem Duratović sealed the three points deep in stoppage time, taking Victory to the top of the VPL1 ladder, level on points with Langwarrin and Kingston City.

At the opposite end of the table sit Victory’s opponents on Sunday, North Geelong Warriors.

The team relegated from the top flight last season has made a slow start to life back in VPL1, losing their first four games of the season.

However, despite the poor results, the Warriors have been competitive in almost every fixture they have played.

Their most recent outing saw them fall to a 2-1 home defeat against Bulleen Lions.

Victory will need to remain alert if they are to avoid a shock home defeat.

Be sure to get to Epping Stadium to support the team as they look to continue their red-hot start to 2024!

Kick-off is at 12:30pm AEDT.
