Melbourne Victory advises that goalkeeper, Matthew Acton, has sustained a shoulder injury and will spend an extended period on the sidelines.
During a training drill late last week, Acton suffered a left-shoulder dislocation and will undergo arthroscopic surgery today.
The shot-stopper’s rehabilitation will see him out for up to six months, however he is aiming for a healthy return towards the end of the 2019/20 Hyundai A-League campaign.
Head Coach, Marco Kurz was disappointed with the outcome but hopes that Acton will still be available this season.
“It’s unfortunate to lose a talent like Matt from the group for a sustained period,” said Kurz.
“The outcome is disappointing for everyone. Matt is obviously feeling flat, but his teammates and everyone at the Club are supporting him.
“He is a popular member of the squad and will continue to contribute to the group in any way that he can.
“We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back at full fitness as soon as possible.”
