Alex Chidiac transfers from Melbourne Victory to Como FC

Melbourne Victory can confirm that Alex Chidiac has been transferred to Italian Serie A Club, FC Como, for a Club record transfer fee.

Since first joining Victory in 2021, Chidiac has cemented herself as one of the most exciting midfielders in the Ninja A-League competition. The 26-year old has since made over 60 appearances and scored 11 goals for Melbourne Victory across two separate stints with the Club, putting together incredible performances that earned her two Julie Dolan Medals and numerous call-ups to the Matildas.

Melbourne Victory Director of Football John Didulica commended Chidiac’s performances since joining the Club and understands this was a difficult decision, but one in the collective and long-term best interests of Alex and our women’s program.

“As a Club, we made a decision two years ago to sign ‘Chids’ to a long-term, full-time (52 week year) contract, so to now secure a record fee for her transfer to Como FC demonstrates the value of investing in our players and our program,” said Didulica.

“We absolutely love Chids, and Melbourne Victory is incredibly proud to be associated with her and what she has achieved since she first joined the Club in 2021,” Didulica said.

“She has become a role model and great ambassador for women and girls in football and is loved by everyone. Having earned two Julie Dolan Medals and a Championship during her time with us, we are extremely proud to see Chids continue to reach her potential and set new standards for herself as a footballer. It’s great to see her hard work rewarded with an opportunity to continue her career with one of the most ambitious ownership groups in Women’s football.”

“I’ve had some of my best football moments with Victory over the past couple of years,” Chidiac said.

“Victory is a Club that I’ve come back to multiple times because I know the environment created by Jeff and the team gets the best out of me. I’m still the same ambitious kid that left Adelaide at 16 wanting to explore and learn, which is why I feel now is the right time to step back outside my comfort zone.

“Thank you to Caroline, JD and the board for making that happen. I will be the team’s biggest fan and mascot from afar!”
