Melbourne Victory is pleased to confirm that Grant Brebner has been appointed as the Club’s new Assistant Coach for the remainder of the 2019/20 Hyundai A-League season.
Brebner has recently been managing the U17 & U18 Academy teams and has been involved in the Academy program for the past five years.
The 42-year-old stepped in as Carlos Salvachua’s assistant for Victory’s recent matches and was formally appointed to the role in the build-up to Saturday’s Hyundai A-League fixture against Perth Glory.
Brebner said he was excited to be taking on the position of Assistant Coach.
“It’s fantastic to be working alongside Carlos and the current football department as we look to improve our position over the second half of this season,” Brebner said.
“Helping players improve and achieve their potential is extremely rewarding, and I’m really enjoying working with the squad. They’re an extremely driven group who want to improve and make their members and fans proud.”
“While we know we have some hard work ahead of us in order to improve our standing in the competition this season, the players are adapting really well to the way we want to play and focused on executing our attacking brand of football.”
Brebner, a Team of the Decade member, played 120 games over four seasons with Victory and featured in the 2007 and 2009 Championship-winning sides.
