Broxham happy with undefeated start

Broxham happy with undefeated start

Melbourne Victory utility Leigh Broxham says Victory’s seven game undefeated streak has given his side plenty of confidence this season.

Speaking at this morning’s recovery session, Broxham said although the 1-0 win over Brisbane Roar was a “scrappy” affair, the boys in blue were pleased to secure all three points.

“You take it one game at a time, but it’s definitely something we took through pre-season,” Broxham said.

“We said didn’t want to lose a game in pre-season and we’ve carried it through the season and last night was a great result.”

Broxham was one of the standouts in last night’s win over Brisbane Roar, playing in central defence, a position that he’s been playing more regularly in over the past few weeks.

“I’ve been asked to do a job there and it’s kind of coming naturally to me at the moment.

“It’s good, happy to do a job for the team. If I’m playing there and we are getting the results that’s all that matters.”

Victory’s focus now turns to another Friday night home clash, with Adelaide United headed to Melbourne for the Round 8 clash at AAMI Park.

This match will also be Melbourne Victory’s 10th anniversary celebration match and Broxham said his side was aiming to celebrate in style.

“We build a great culture at the club. History’s a big part of this club,” he said.

“Hopefully there will be a lot of ex-players at the game as well which will be great. Obviously we want to get a result at home on a special night.”
