Thanks to LeasePlan-s Carn the Kids program, budding soccer players Ben and Jayden Norman got a chance to rub shoulders with their football idols this morning at Melbourne Victory training.
12-year-old Ben was sadly diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma at just four years of age. Since being treated, Ben has fully recovered and has since developed a keen interest in soccer!
2013 Carn the Kids Ambassador, Melbourne Victory central midfielder and also a Leukaemia survivor, Jimmy Jeggo also met with the kids and pose for some photographs.
Currently Ben plays for the Port Melbourne Sharks U13 team and has commenced additional training with Albert Park College under soccer greats Mehmet Durakovic and Steve Mautone.
Both Ben and Jayden were excited to meet Jimmy and the Melbourne Victory today, in preparation for Saturday night-s clash against Western Sydney – where they will be the official Melbourne Victory team mascots, thanks to LeasePlan, Carn the Kids and Camp Quality.
LeasePlan-s Carn the Kids is a simple program that aims to give kids who may not otherwise have the opportunity, a chance to enjoy a fun day out. LeasePlan has been a community partner of Melbourne Victory for the past 5 seasons.
Saturday night will see almost 400 kids and their carers from some of Australia-s most respected children-s agencies; Camp Quality, HeartKids, The Royal Children’s Hospital, The CREATE Foundation, , Big Brothers Big Sisters, MacKillop Family Services, Mirabel and Variety and Very Special Kids cheer on Melbourne Victory.
