Melbourne Victory is excited to announce details for the Club’s second consecutive Checkpoint Charity Cup.
The match will see a Carl Valeri XI face off against an Archie Thompson XI at AAMI Park on Friday, February 27, the day of Victory’s Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s Original Rivalry clash with Adelaide United.
Although the Checkpoint Charity Cup will be played behind closed doors, Members and fans can still play their part, as the Club aims to beat last year’s $116,000 fundraising total.
All proceeds will go to the Starlight Children’s Foundation, a charity close to Checkpoint’s heart. Donations can be made by clicking here.
Earlier this month, six A-League Men’s and Women’s players – Nicki Flannery, Denis Genreau, Alana Jančevski, Juan Mata, Zoe McMeeken and Roderick Miranda – visited the Monash Children’s Hospital to spend time with children who benefit from the Starlight Express Rooms.
Melbourne Victory Managing Director, Caroline Carnegie, commented:
“The Checkpoint Charity Cup perfectly embodies our values to lead, unite, connect, and inspire.
“Initiatives like this bring our community together for a meaningful cause, raising vital funds that directly support the Starlight Foundation. These contributions significantly help improve the lives of the children and families they assist.”
Checkpoint Directors, Clem Giambattista and Gavin Casey, added:
“As a company, at Checkpoint Building Surveyors, we believe our responsibility extends beyond our corporate responsibilities – it extends to community.
“The Starlight Foundation brings joy, hope and positive distraction to children and families facing serious illness, and we are proud to contribute to that mission.
“This charity match is about coming together as an industry and a community to make a genuine difference where it matters most.”
