Melbourne Victory has appointed Christina Smith to newly-created role of new General Manager – Consumer, Community & Government Relations.

Smith joins Victory with a wealth of experience across stakeholder management, membership strategy, policy development, public affairs and government relations.

Prior to joining Melbourne Victory, Smith worked as the Chief of Staff for the Victorian Minister for Sport, Tourism and Major Events where she was instrumental in delivering the Victorian Stadia Strategy and lifting the profile of women and girls in sport by securing record funding for female facilities and the creation of the first Office of Women and Girls in Sport in the Nation.

Smith has also held senior roles at Progressive Business Association, a membership-based association and key advocacy body connecting business leaders with Federal and State governments.

Melbourne Victory CEO Trent Jacobs welcomed Smith to the role that will lead the Club’s membership, merchandise, community and government relations departments, as well as be a member of the Club’s executive team.

“Christina is a fantastic addition to our executive team at Melbourne Victory,” said Jacobs.

“We’ve known Christina for some time, having worked with her when she was Chief of Staff for the Victorian Minister for Sport.

“She has knowledge of industry, an expansive network and excellent commercial acumen, so we’re very excited about what she can offer Melbourne Victory and our stakeholders in her new role.”
