Countdown To Kick-Off | The Final Push

Our ALM side returns to action this week while our ALW side requires a single point from their final match to secure their spot in finals.

Back From International Break

After five long weeks without a home match, we’re finally back at AAMI Park in front of all our members and fans on Sunday 31 March.

Tony Popovic’s side returns to action for Easter Sunday football when they take on Perth Glory at AAMI Park.

It was drama last time out against the Glory, with two late goals from Eli Adams and Ben Folami securing all three points in Perth.

Since then, Victory has won two matches, lost three and drawn six. In that same stretch, Perth has won three, lost three and drawn four.

Two More Years

French midfielder Zinedine Machach has re-signed with the Club for a further two seasons.

The 28-year-old has made 22 A-League Men’s appearances during the current campaign, scoring six goals and recording three assists in his debut season at Victory.

Machach has become a fan-favourite with the Victory faithful, making a name for himself in the league with his power and strength on the ball coupled with his finishing prowess.

Machach was delighted to be continuing his journey at Victory.

“I have enjoyed my time in Australia and I’m excited to be continuing my adventure at Melbourne Victory,” Machach said.

“The Club has brought out some of the best in me as a footballer and as a person and the environment at Victory is one that drives me every day.

“The fans have been incredible in Melbourne. They have shown me the love and support coming from so far away and I want to make sure I deliver for them over the next period.”

Do-Or-Die

It’s all come down to this for Jeff Hopkins’ side this week when they travel to Sydney to face the Sky Blues in the final round of the Liberty A-League season.

A point is all that is needed for our girls in blue to secure finals once again, but it will be a tough task coming up against the league leaders.

Last time out against Sydney ended in a 1-1, with both teams having finished the season strong since then.

Victory has won four, lost two and drawn one in that stretch while Sydney has won five, lost none and drawn one.
