Melbourne Victory’s James Donachie has declared himself ready to start this weekend after making a full recovery from a calf injury.

Victory takes on Newcastle Jets on Saturday evening in Round 19 of the Hyundai A-League.

Donachie played his first A-League minutes since Round 2 last Friday when he replaced Thomas Deng midway through the second half.

He also featured in Victory’s last two Foxtel Y-League matches, which included a 2-1 Derby win at Epping Stadium.

The defender has put his hand up to start, should Head Coach Kevin Muscat give him the nod.

“We’ve ticked all the boxes for that, if that situation occurs,” Donachie said.

“I played a few youth games as well which was good to get some time in the legs so we’ve done everything we can.”

It’s been a long road to recover for Donachie who has worked hard to regain fitness after such a significant setback.

“We’ve done a lot of testing over the last three months to get some numbers on the strength that I lose in my hip and it’s getting close to 100% now.

“I’m about 10% off any anything in there [that range] is perfect, good to go, so it feels really good.”
