Melbourne Victory’s Lachlan Jackson is in a buoyant mood ahead of this weekend’s Isuzu UTE A-League away trip.
The ALM team begin the second month of 2026 by travelling interstate, facing Central Coast Mariners at Polytec Stadium on Sunday, February 1, kick-off 5pm AEDT.
Victory are hunting a third road win of the 2025/26 season, having taken all three points in away matches won to nil against Perth Glory and Melbourne City.
Round 15’s trip to New South Wales follows a thumping 4-0 success over Sydney FC on Monday evening, in front of an enthralled AAMI Park crowd.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Jackson assessed what the Big Blue triumph can mean for Victory, reflected on opening his goal account for the Club in that fixture, and talked about his unique celebration that followed.
“I think we, from start to finish, were dominant and relentless in our attack, and I think that showed in the four goals. We can carry a lot of confidence from the Big Blue in the way we played.
“I’ve been wanting to score for a long while, so it’s nice to get the monkey off the back.
“It was at the dinner table with the boys in Adelaide. I brought up one of the goals I scored, which also got disallowed. But I brought the windmill in there, and they joked that I wouldn’t do it again, so I had to prove them wrong.”

Despite a solid showing in their January outings, opponents Central Coast, led by Warren Moon, are currently propping up the table.
But Jackson, considering the competition’s competitive nature in this campaign, is not expecting an easy ride against the Mariners in Gosford.
“I think the state of the league at the moment, everyone’s close on the ladder. Any team can beat anyone at any time.
“It’s just about being consistent in the way we play. I think if we can do that, we’ll be one of the hardest teams to beat, so that’s the plan.”
