Major delays expected on freeways this weekend

M1 Upgrade advises that there will be major delays on the West Gate Freeway heading eastbound between Bolte Bridge and the CityLink Tunnels this weekend from 8pm Friday, October 23 to 5am Monday, October 26 (weather permitting).

M1 Upgrade advises that there will be major delays on the West Gate Freeway heading eastbound between Bolte Bridge and the CityLink Tunnels this weekend from 8pm Friday, October 23 to 5am Monday, October 26 (weather permitting).

Traffic from the Bolte Bridge heading towards the CityLink Tunnels and Kings Way will also be affected by these works.

Please note the following temporary changes to traffic conditions:

ā€¢ Only two lanes available heading eastbound towards Kings Way and Burnley Tunnel.
ā€¢ Closure of recently-opened Montague Street eastbound entry-ramp.

Significant delays are expected and drivers are strongly encouraged to avoid the area.

The West Gate Freeway Alliance will be replacing an existing bridge expansion joint on the eastbound carriageway between Montague Street and Power Street, over a 54-hour shift.

There will be further delays on the West Gate Freeway in the coming weeks for expansion joint works.

As part of the M1 Upgrade, there are also delays expected on the Monash and Southern Link sections this weekend.

Please note there is a full freeway closure in both directions between Kings Way and Warrigal Road (including the Domain and Burnley Tunnels) from 9pm Saturday, October 24 to 9am Sunday, October 25.
