Our boys in blue return to AAMI Park for the first time in season 24/5 as Adelaide United make the trip to Melbourne for an Australia Cup Original Rivalry Semi-Final.

The journey to the semis has been an exciting one for Victory, with 4-1, 4-0 and 4-0 wins against the Lambton Jaffas, NWS Spirit and Moreton City Excelsior along the way.

Last weekend’s quarter-final fixture at Perry Park saw new signing Nikos Vergos continue his goal-scoring form with a brace on the night while in-form attacker Nishan Velupillay added to his tally of Cup goals, scoring the team’s fourth.

Velupillay leads the competition for goals scored, having put away five in three matches.

Patrick Kisnorbo’s side will now face the biggest test of their Cup campaign to date when they face The Reds on Saturday 21 September.

United are coming off a 2-1 extra-time win over Western Sydney with goals coming from Austin Ayoubi (9′) and Ryan Kitto (93′).

Speaking to the media ahead of Saturday night’s blockbuster, Kisnorbo said that the players were excited to be back home playing in front of the Victory faithful.

“For us, it’s an opportunity to play at home (for the first time) since last season,” he said.

“We’re excited about it. It’s always good to play in front of our fans.”

Kisnorbo said that he is expecting a “tough game” tomorrow, but reassured his team will be ready.

“Every team is hard regardless of what league or competition they play in, you know, so it’s going to be a tough game tomorrow,” he said.

“But for me, you know, it’s just about concentrating on us and what we do best.”
